We hope that all you, our retailers, players, your families and your friends, have been keeping safe in these extraordinary times.
From the moment that we realized there were issues holding the Bushiroad Spring Fest 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our thoughts turned to your safety and how to host the rest of the year’s events, including the Bushiroad Championship Series 2020. We had hoped beyond hope that the situation would improve, so that we would still be able to organize BCS2020 in the latter half of the year.
Though there has been signs of the pandemic slowing down and many countries are slowly reopening their economies or lifting lockdown orders, mass gatherings are still largely being prohibited.
In light of this, we will not be holding the Bushiroad Championship Series or a World Finals event this year. This was a difficult decision for us to make because we know players miss the competitive spirit and camaraderie that these tournaments foster. We do feel, however, that this is the right choice, and we seek your understanding in these troubled times.
In line with social distancing requirements and restrictions, we are planning for a special shop tournament league, called the Bushiroad Shop League. This league will be run at a shop level in two seasons held over 4 months, and will have a hard participation count cap per store, per session to ensure that the requirements are observed. More details on this league will be announced in the coming days, so please stay tuned to our official channels for more details.
For returning World Champions from BCS2019 who were supposed to have received direct invites to BCS2020 World Finals, we will contact you in due course with regards to future sponsorship arrangements.
We would like to seek your kind understanding for this matter, and urge everyone to comply with the safety regulations put in place by your government in order to curb the spread of the pandemic.
