- Cardfight!! Vanguard Standard Format
- Weiß Schwarz
To prepare myself for BRO, I playtested a lot against Bruce mirror matchup and tweaked my deck so that it can handle against Bruce Matchup. Everyone in the tournament was amazing and I had a blast playing against them, especially those who are playing a similar deck as mine. Lastly, I would like to shout out to my 2 friends – Harth Hayawi from Team Crushing The Meta and Chris for helping me with all the playtesting during the preparation for BRO resulting in a really solid deck!
The deck is built around gathering 15 soul counts consistently while having a high defense shield all around. I am glad to meet so many competent players in BRO. With good luck on my side and good knowledge of my matchups in general, my deck and I emerge victorious. I would like to thank all my friends and comrades whom I played with regularly as well as PHRAD, for making it to Top 16!
Gravidia has a really unique Vanguard Skill and one would really need a good understanding of the current meta as well as it’s matchup in order to bring out it’s full potential. I run the deck in its purest form as I strongly believe that this is how Gravidia should be played.
Throughout my games, I had the opportunity to play against many high level players and I really enjoyed playing against them. I would like to give my thanks to my friends at Ben’s (LuX, Gabriel, Wayne, Josh, Sean, Haziq, Ben, James, Glen, Schary) for teaching and guiding me when I first started Vanguard last year and also , my girlfriend, Valencia and my family, for supporting me in this hobby as well as when I was playing for the tournament. It was truly, a crazy journey.
When building a deck, I research the popular sets that are being played in the current meta as well as understanding each meta deck’s gameplay and identifying its strengths and weaknesses.
The opponents that I faced were highly skilled and very ferocious. I enjoyed playing in a highly-pressured environment where a single room of error could lead to a fatal outcome.
I would love to shout out to Team TxC, WCC and the Sydney Weiss Schwarz community who helped me prepare for this event with access to cards and allowing me to playtest extensively in multiple match ups to familiarise myself with those decks before playing in BRO. Thanks again to the team and staff that made the event possible and running the event so seamlessly. Here’s hoping for more events to come in the near future!
When building a deck, I try to imagine how the ideal board states would be at each level. It was a great tournament and I had fun facing decks such as Slime, DAL, SAO. Lastly, I would like to thank the GTA Weiss Server !!!!
When it comes to building a deck, it would always come down to a fun and strong build against any other deck that tries to set a very strong board like Standby deck. My game plan is to contest most Lvls 1s with my Lvl 1 CXC and remove the board with the Lvl 2 CX combo. The opponent that I faced knew exactly what they were doing and how to pilot the deck. However, what made my deck stood out is that many do not know how to deal with the resource deficit of my Lvl 1 CX Combo.
I would like to shout out to the tournament organiser for hosting & organising the tournament, our commentator Nendo for showing me how fun the deck was, to all my friends for helping me to playtest the deck and lastly, Coen Cheng for being a really strong competitive player who took away my only loss in the tournament.
