FAQ | Regional Championship | Bushiroad Championship Series 2019 (BCS2019)

Bushiroad Championship Series 2019

Regional Championship
FAQ

Are Japanese edition cards allowed in the main tournaments?

No, only English edition cards may be used in the main tournaments. No mixing of multiple languages in the deck is allowed too.

Am I allowed to switch decks and/or change cards in the midst of a tournament?

Participants are NOT allowed to switch decks or change cards in the tournament, except for what has been stated in sideboard ruling for Future Card Buddyfight

Should I sleeve the cards? May I use different sleeves for Imaginary Gift markers and G units (Cardfight!! Vanguard) / Buddy Monster and/or Flag (Future Card Buddyfight)?

Yes, you are required to use opaque card sleeves so that the back of cards cannot be easily distinguished. Maximum 2 layers of sleeves are allowed. Only licensed sleeves are allowed.

Cardfight!! Vanguard:
You may choose to sleeve your Imaginary Gift Markers. However, if you do, you MUST use different card sleeves from your main deck for your Imaginary Gift markers.

You may use different card sleeves from your main deck for your G units.

Future Card Buddyfight:
You should use the same card sleeves for the whole deck, including main and sideboard cards, as well as the Buddy Monster. However, you are allowed to use a different sleeve for your Flag card.

You MUST use different card sleeves for Lost World Deck in order to differentiate your Main Deck from your Lost World Deck.

Am I allowed to use my own card supplies (sleeves, deck cases, playmats) in Shop Challenges & Regional Championship tournaments?

Yes, you are allowed to use your own card supplies as long as they are licensed products. It is prohibited to use any unlicensed card supplies.

Can I purchase cards from other players at Shop Challenges & Regional Championship tournaments?

No. Players may trade cards, but are not allowed to buy/sell cards from other players at our events.

Can I play other card games at a Regional Championship?

No. Players are only allowed to play Bushiroad card games at the Regional Championship tournaments, unless another sanctioned card game tournament is taking place at the same venue.

Are there any entry fees?

Entry fees may be charged at each shop’s discretion for Shop Challenges. There are no entry fees to any tournament in the Bushiroad Championship Series 2019 Regional Championships. However, players may have to pay to enter the venue if a Regional Championship is held within another event which requires an entry fee.

If I am not the citizen of any countries in the region where a Shop Challenge or Regional Championship is held but I am currently residing in a country in that region, am I able to participate that Shop Challenge or Regional Championship?

Yes, you are allowed to participate in the Shop Challenges/Regional Championship in the same region as you are currently residing (North/Latin America, Europe and Asia-Oceania), regardless of your nationality.

If I am not the citizen of any countries in the region where a Shop Challenge or Regional Championship is held and I am NOT currently residing in a country in that region, am I able to participate that Shop Challenge or Regional Championship?

Yes, you are allowed to participate. However, please note that the invites are strictly restricted to players currently residing in that region. Thus, the invites will be passed down to the next eligible candidate. You will still be able to receive the prizes (i.e. Medals, Certificate or Champion PR).

If I have already received a BYE Card in one BCS Shop Challenge, can I participate in another Shop Challenge? If I win the tournament again, will I be granted another 1 or 2 BYEs at Regional Championships?

Participants may participate in multiple BCS Shop Challenges, as long as the eligibility is fulfilled. The participant may receive multiple BYE Cards should he or she wins at multiple Shop Challenges. However, only one BYE card can be used to grant free Byes for each game at one Regional Championship.

Can one BYE Card from one Shop Challenge be used multiple times at different Regional Championships?

No. The winners of any Shop Challenge must submit the BYE Card to the Bushiroad staff at the Regional Championship to receive the automatic byes, and Bushiroad staff will either cut a corner or punch a hole on the card. Hence one card can only be used once at any Regional Championship in the region.

If I have already received an invitation to World Finals from one BCS Regional Championship, can I participate in another Regional Championship? If I win the tournament again, will I receive another invitation?

No. Participants may participate in multiple BCS Regional Championship, as long as the eligibility is fulfilled. However, if a participant has received a sponsored invitation to the World Finals from a previous Regional Championship of any game, that participant will not be able to receive another invitation. Should the participant win at any other Regional Championship again, the sponsored invitation will be passed down to the next available candidate.

Bushiroad Championship Series 2019

Previous Bushiroad Spring Fest

After Bushiroad Spring Fest in the earlier half of 2019, the Bushiroad Championship series will follow as the second Bushiroad-sanctioned tournament series held every year. Each year, thousands of players gather across more than 20 locations around the world to attend the event for the tournaments, side events and attractive prizes. BCS2019 will be held across three regions (Asia-Oceania AO, Europe EU, and North/Latin America NA/LA), with 3 levels of tournaments: Shop Challenges, Regional Championship and an invite-only World Finals.

Bushiroad Championship Series encompasses the following Bushiroad’s English Edition trading card games:

● Cardfight!! Vanguard Standard
● Cardfight!! Vanguard Premium
● Weiss Schwarz
● Future Card Buddyfight

  • Cardfight!! Vanguard
  • Weiss Schwarz
  • Future Card Buddyfight

Major Changes in Tournament Structures

  1. There will be 3 levels of tournaments: Shop Challenge, Regional Championship and an invite-only World Finals.
    • Champions from the Regional Championships will receive a sponsored invitation to World Finals, to be held in January 2020. Those who came in 2nd or 3rd place will receive a non-sponsored invite to World Finals.
    • Non-sponsored invites will not be allowed to be passed down.
    • Sponsored invites are allowed to be passed down all the way to 4th place only if the 2nd and 3rd place are unable to attend.
  2. Champions of World Finals 2019 will receive a sponsored invitation to the next annual World Finals 2020 as a returning champion to defend their title.
    • This sponsored invitation cannot be passed down.
  3. The Shop Challenge will run an individual tournament format for all games.
    • Winners of Shop Challenges will receive BYE cards to be used to obtain bye rounds when attending the Regional Championships.
  4. For any game which has 385 or more players seated at the start of Round 1, a second tournament will be opened up with the players split evenly between the two using a random method.
    • There will be an additional set of prizes for the Top 8/4/3/Champion respectively.
  5. The region lock will be lifted for participation, but there will still be a region lock on receiving invite for World Finals.
    • Winners receiving both the sponsored and non-sponsored invites must be players currently residing in the respective regions.
    • If the winner is not currently residing in the respective region, the invite will be passed down. However, this is limited between players of 1st to 4th place. The winner will still be able to receive the other prizes (i.e. Champion PR, Certificate or Medal).
