Roles and Responsibilities
As a Judge, your responsibility is not limited to providing accurate answers to ruling questions. You are a community leader who should be looking out for the welfare of players, and create a welcoming environment for all the players regardless of event as an extension of Bushiroad. As such, while working/volunteering in such a capacity, you should always be mindful of your words and actions.
Code of Conduct:
– The role of the judges is to facilitate correct and fair gameplay and not to penalize players for honest mistakes.
– Judges are expected to behave in a professional manner during the events.
– Judges should be fair at all times and should not commit any dishonesty act.
– Judges are expected to treat everyone with respect.
– Judges are expected to be punctual and should inform the event organiser if they will be late.
– Judges should always assume goodwill and reasonable intent unless proven otherwise.
– Judges should be honest. If any wrong ruling or decision has been made, please highlight the issue or mistakes immediately if you realise they have made one.
– Judges should not create an unwelcoming environment or bullying culture at any time.
– Judges can interact with any community participants if they are not facilitating a task at hand.
– Judges are not to solicit either their own or other’s social media/organisation without prior approval from Bushiroad staff.
– Judges are not to create monetary transactions between any parties while on duty.
– Judges should not share information from Bushiroad without direct consent
– Judges should never share screenshots from the Discord server to external parties
Judge Polo T shirt guidelines
- By wearing the Judge Polo, Judges act as representatives of Bushiroad and the Judge Program. While in uniform, Judges are expected to comply with the Official Judge Code of Conduct.
- Recommended but not required to wear while judging Shop Tournaments.
- To be worn at Bushiroad events in a professional capacity only, never for personal use outside of events.
- Judges will be issued Judge Polos in their requested size at their next Bushiroad Regional event worked. It is the Judge’s responsibility to bring their own Judge Polo(s) to all subsequent events. (Replacements will not be provided except under special circumstances.)

Q. I attempted the previous online test or interview but did not pass, am I able to try again this time?
A. Yes, you may try again this time.
Q. What should I do if I cannot attend an interview at any upcoming Regional Championship location?
A. Please kindly contact us to arrange for a timing convenient for all parties.
Q. Am I an active Judge?
A. A judge is considered active if they have passed online test within last 2 years
- “Active” status begins on the date of email confirmation (not the date of taking the test)
Q. What happens if I become inactive?
A.
- If a judge fails to retake (and pass) the test within 2 years they will be removed as an active judge
- If a judge fails the test within the 2 years of active judge status, their judge status will be put into a probation status. **Please refer to probation
- If an inactive judge wishes to resume being a part of the judge program, and is reinstated after their renewal period they will be demoted to provisional status.
- This is to ensure that they will come back and be able to re-review the relevant rulings/floor rules at the current time.
Q. What is Probation?
A. A judge can be put into a probation status on a case by case basis (example: Failing to uphold what is expected of a judge in “Roles and Responsibilities of a Judge.”)
- Probation status prohibits judges from judging physical events until they pass their next online test.
